This activity uses the graphic program Kid Pix to enhance and enrich the concept of simple multiplication. This activity integrates computer literacy skills and math skills while providing a motivating and exciting "hands-on minds-on" learning experience. This activity also provides the opportunity for peer-tutoring and cooperative learning. Students develop basic technology skills. The student will: use with proficiency the following for Kid Pix: STAMP tools, RECTANGLE and OVAL tools, OPTION FOR TYPING tool, ERASER tool. These are all prerequisites for creating the Kid Pix multimedia slide show.

The stated learning gap is showing increased math score gains by high achieving math students. The unit Classroom Mall was chosen because it requires these students to develop and run a classroom/city monetary system. The 3-5th grade Math cluster Number Sense and Theory content standard states that the student will recognize, represent, and model real numbers and operations verbally, physically, symbolically, and graphically. I chose this unit because it allowed my students to apply the study of whole numbers to situations in their environment.
