Nettie's Trip South
Annotations by Susan Phipps
Track #32258
Format: Extended learning
In the Star Reading Assessment, 56% of my 4th grade class was reading below grade level. Standards from Curriculum Frameworks - Language Arts grades 3-5: This unit was designed to improve reading comprehension and vocabulary. It will also improve writing skills, and oral language skills. The Learning Expectations Addressed: Comprehension should be improved with character studies and webbing exercises. Additionally, vocabulary will be increased. The writing practice of narrative stories will enhance student writing. Lastly, students will share their ideas in a debate and drama reenactment. I chose this unit because "My students will use the Internet in my class to research topics" as stated in the teacher Profiler Pre-Survey.
