This track was created for a fourth grade class to address the stated learning gap of alphabetizing, contractions, and pronouns. This unit "Ramona Quimby Age 8" was chosen because it teaches a variety of English and Reading skills. The 4th grade Language Arts standard states that the student will develop the skills necessary for alphabetizing, making contractions, and using pronouns. I chose this unit because it combined several Reading and English skills such as complete sentences, pronouns, punctuation, alphabetizing, and using contractions. This unit allows students to use the Internet to explore several topics dealing with these subjects as addressed in question #22 of the teacher and student pre-survey profiler.

This track was created for a 4th grade class to address the stated learning gap of Reading comprehension, word recognition and interpretation. This unit "Miss Rumphius" was chosen because it teaches a variety of Reading skills. The 4th grade Language Arts standard states that the student will develop the Reading skills necessary for Reading comprehension, analysis, word recognition, interpretation, evaluation, and appreciation of the written text. I chose this unit because it combined several Reading skills such as synonyms, antonyms, cause and effect, context clues and comprehension. This unit also allows students to use the Internet to explore several topics dealing with wildflowers and growing gardens as addressed in question #22 of the teacher and student pre-survey profiler.

The 4th grade unit "Sign of the Beaver" deals with the learning gap "reading comprehension". This unit uses the book The Sign of the Beaver to teach several reading skills. The 4th grade Language Arts standard states that the student will develop the reading skills necessary for comprehension, analysis, word recognition,interpretation, evaluation, and appreciation of the written text. I chose this unit because it combined several reading skills such as vocabulary, metaphors, comprehension, and similes. This unit also allows students to use the internet to explore several topics dealing with Native American Indians as addressed in question #22 of the teacher and student pre-survey profiler.
