Track #58988
Format: Extended learning
|
This unit is a terrific way to teach or review parts of speech with your students. This unit will help students meet the content standard that the student will develop the structural and creative skills necessary to produce written language that can be read and interpreted by various audiences. Through hands on activities and working with their peers students will be able to practice identifying parts of speech outside of the average textbook.
In all four tracks the students will (TSW) complete the following tasks:
1) TSW correctly diagram 10 sentences previously done with the class on their own.
2)TSW correctly color code the parts of speech in the 10 sentences given by the teacher.
3) TSW correctly match all of the game pieces, thus identifying all parts of speech in the game.
4)TSW correctly create a web tale by filling in the blanks on their mad lib and print it out to be corrected by the teacher.

Track #47991
Format: Extended learning
|
According to teacher made pretests and the School Improvement Plan for our school, students fell well below the national average of 84.7% in Reading. Therefore, this track has been created for my fifth grade Language Arts class of students with average intelligence. Students will be engaged in several activities that will make them a part of the learning process. For example, students will be creating a story flow chart, participate in a discussion with their peers, and create their own book to demonstrate their analysis of the story. The students will develop the reading skills necessary for word recognition, comprehension, interpretation, analyses, evaluation, and appreciation of the written text by completing and taking part in the activities provided by this unit. Also, the profile survey allowed me to realize students need extra opportunities to demonstrate what they know about topics and use the Internet in my class to research topics.

Track #45209
Format: Resource list
|
According to the School Improvement Plan for our school, students scores fell well below the national average of 84.7 percent in Reading. Therefore, this track has been created for fifth grade Language Arts class of students with average intelligence. Students will participate in a variety of activities that will engage them in many aspects of the learning process. For example, students will be using journals, brainstorming, and collaborating with peers while learning about important historical events through literature. The students will develop the reading skills necessary for word recogntion, comprehension, interpretation, analysis, evaluation, and appreciation of the written text by completeing the activities in this unit. Also the profiler survey made me aware that among other things, my students are rarely given opportunities to think of other ways to tell what they have learned and recognize what is important about a topic being discussed. Both of these items will be addressed in the unit. For example, students will tell others about the story through their posters, and students will determine the important events in the story when brainstorming.
