Constructing a Research paper using Keyboarding
Annotations by Freddie Williams
Track #61179
Format: Resource list
This Track, “Constructing a Research paper using Keyboarding, addresses the stated learning gap of keyboarding students not being familiar with the parts, process and method of keying a research paper. The lesson, "The Research Paper-Searching for a Subject", was chosen because it offers an opportunity for the student to search the web for potential subjects, understand the preliminary steps to planning and writing a research paper and the use of the keyboard to format, edit and key the final copy of the research paper. The 9th grade keyboarding standard states that the student will key business documents; Compose, key and format information using a keyboard; Proofread documents for accuracy, content, and for correct grammar, spelling, and punctuation; Make changes using revision on tracking mode. I chose this unit because it allows my students an opportunity to use the Internet, practice proofreading and formatting skills and improve keyboarding accuracy. Learning expectations addressed in this Track are: (1) Students will research a web site to look for possible subjects for their research paper. (2) The students will use the Internet to develop a process for writing the introduction to the paper. (3) The students will gather information to be contained in their research paper. (4) The student will complete the research paper by taking all notes and information that they have analyzed and produce the final draft of their paper.
2.
Preparation of an Application Letter and Resume
Annotations by Freddie Williams
Track #47550
Format: Extended learning
The stated learning gap is that students lack the skills necessary for keying in the information for Resumes. This unit "Preparation of an Application Letter and Resume" was chosen because it requires the students to write and prepare a resume through a successful job search which addresses the curriculum standard. Activities in this lesson address the 9-12 Business/Vocational Curriculum Frameworks Standard which states: The student will use technology resources to improve problem solving and decision making skills and apply these skills to real world situations. The student will use a variety of computer resources to improve word processing and management skills. They will have the worksheets to fill out to help them with this procedure. I also chose this unit because it addresses the pre-survey question #15 on students connecting what they learn
