1.
Folktales
Annotations by Amy Weeks
Track #140293
Format: Extended learning
This Track is intended for third graders, but could be used in the middle grades too. I developed this Track to incorporate technology into my Language Arts curriculum. I also want to introduce my students to a variety of folktales from different countries. I intend for my students to compare/contrast some of these stories to the more traditional ones we have read in class. Students will read these stories and will be able to identify the characteristics that make them folktales. Students will use some of the given sites as guided tools so that they can write their own folktales/fairytales. Students will keep a portfolio that will include all of their responses to the questions asked as they progress through this unit.
2.
South Carolina and the American Revolution
Annotations by Amy Weeks
Track #148701
Format: Worksheet
This track is designed for third through fifth grade teachers to use in a unit of South Carolina and the American Revolution to enrich studentsÂ’ learning. The teacher will use this track as a whole class to guide the learners through different topics. This track is also designed for small group and individual learning. Students will be actively involved in his/her learning by creating a list of facts he/she learned, playing an on-line game, writing a letter to convince his/her teacher and principal to take the class on a field trip, and they will read a play and compare/contrast it to a book read in class. Students will learn about famous South Carolina battles and people who did amazing things during the Revolution. Students will expand their knowledge about the Stamp Tax, Boston Tea Party, the Declaration of Independence, and Patrick Henry. Students will use this track to explore many other topics of South Carolina and the Revolutionary War.
