This lesson gives students the opportunity to examine the causes of the American Revolution. Students will investigate both primary and secondary sources to gain an understanding on the content. After completing this lesson students will be able to: (1) explain how the French and Indian War led to tensions between British and the colonists, (2) identify Acts and Policies enacted by the British that pushed colonists to clamor for war and independence, (3) identify and explain the impact the Proclamation of 1763 had on American colonists, (4) identify and explain the impact that the Sons of Liberty had on society prior to the American Revolution, (5) explain the Boston Massacre and justify if it was really a massacre or not, (6) identify the Boston Tea Party and (7) demonstrate, through completion of lesson, an understanding of the events that precipitated the American Revolution.
