Examine copies of the Civil War newspaper 'Harper's Weekly' available in class to help you understand how newspapers in that time period were written. Create a Civil War period newspaper that contains accurate historical information. Include: (1) appropriate title (2) a date for the paper between 1861 and 1865 (3) accurate information for the date chosen (4) articles written as if you were a reporter in this time period (5) feature some military information or details of a battle (6) add some human interest stories (7) place appropriate advertisements from the period in the newspaper. Use the websites in this track to help complete the project.
