 Track Description
Citizenship is a Special Status: My second grade class has difficulty understanding the concept of citizenship. This track addresses the learning gap my students have and is a wonderful site to begin this unit. The students will: explain how American citizenship is defined, explain how a person can gain or lose American citizenship, describe the categories of non-citizen residents. This lesson aligns with the K-2 Curriculum Framework which states: Students will be able to analyze, interpret, and evaluate the rights, responsibilities, and privileges of citizens living in a democratic society. The lesson also aligns with survey question 11: My students connect what they learn in school to what they do outside of school.
