What is history?  Historians use tools to study the past.  Before written records were kept, historians must rely on artifacts and fossils to interpret ancient times.  

Examine the first site to begin to understand the tools that archaeologists use in their work.  Be able to describe the tools used at the site and why they are effective in understanding the past.
