When we search for information using a commercial Internet search tool we can expect to find a good amount of websites in our results list that have been placed on the Internet with the intent of selling us something. Currently and perhaps unfortunately, the commercial search tools are the ones that are the most popular, like Google, Ask Jeeves, Yahoo, et al. They are also the ones that have the best funding and often offer the most sophisticated search technology. If you want to buy something a commercial Internet search tool is what you want to use because of what is inside the database. On the other hand, if you are researching a topic for school or for medical advice a commercial Internet search tool may not be a wise choice. And…..its all because of what’s inside!
