www.libsci.sc.edu/miller/solar.htm Space Science In this unit students will explore the influences and characteristics of the sun, Earth, moon and planets while examining the relationship between these bodies and the solar system.The students will use computer skills to locate specific sites to research planet information. The students will construct a model of the solar system with emphasis on an individually assigned planet and location relative to earth. The students will compare planet orbits, diameter, mass, and temperature.The students will demonstrate listening, observational, and comprehensional skills of video narrative. >From the Tennessee Curriculum Framework the following are addressed in this unit. Science Standard 1.5c- Information should be related to prior knowledge, Math Standard Spatial Sense and Geometric Concepts: In order to develop an understanding of Geometric concepts the mathematics curriculum must include problems which require students to explore geometric properties and relationships and investigate, model, and analyze one, two, and three - dimensional figures, The process of making prediction, drawing inferences, and developing conclusions is based upon an individuals's prior learning and understanding of scientific principles.
