Track Description
This track will help students become familiar with certain consumer math terms such as interest and sales tax. This tract will enable them to get some consumer advice from their peers and have them play a game involving credit cards. Students will also be able to use their calculators and practice using formulas to help them find discount, sales tax, interest, and commission. Formulas are provided in case they forget.
Goal: Students will be able to begin using their knowledge of math to become better consumers.
Objectives:
Students will be able to define and compute simple interest.
Students will be able to discover different types of interest.
Students will be able to compare the pros and cons of having a credit card.
Students will be able to find the total cost of an item including sales tax, from various states.
Students will be able to compare the value of the dollar in the US to its value in other countries.
