Track Description
This Track is designed to help students understand what bullying is and why some people resort to teasing and bullying. It focuses on how people feel when they are victimized, teased, exluded or bullied. It explores how an individual can respond to bullying and find a method that suits them to turn it aside. This unit is being studied alongside our study on Roald Dahl's novel Boy which is based on his childhood experiences and which focuses on bullying and the misuse of "power." We are also studying the text Back Off Bully and have a conference set in the classroom which are available for student-borrowing. There is a learning cente in the classroom with actvity sheets based on this book which have been written using ideas from The Four Resource Model of Luke and Freebody(code breaking, text paticipating, text using and text analysing.) The unit is directly related to Personal Futures in The Essential Learnings Framework and focuses especially on the Well Being component.
