 Track Description
One of the goals of this lesson is to broaden students' understanding of Native Americans, particularily the Ojibwe tribe, and to understand how they contributed to American history. They will learn about the Ojibwe history, culture, traditions, and customs. Students will learn how to conduct a research project on historical, geographical, and cultural aspects of the Ojibwe. Another goal of this lesson is to counter the stereotypes of Native Americans that students may have. This lesson will teach and emphasize the importance of diversity, unity, tolerance, and multiculturalism. Students will read, summarize, research, compare and contrast, follow a recipe, add to a mural, analyze, evaluate, and synthesize all the information presented to them about the Ojibwe people. They will also be able to connect the Ojibwe's contributions to the history of America.
