In pairs, search your assigned category by clicking the links available. I would like to put yourself into the shoes of a young black child living in the 1930s in a poor region of the South. What would your life be like? What would your daily fears be? What would school be like? What disadvantages would you suffer? What is your family life like, economic status, employment, housing, food, etc.?
Assessment: Following your study of the following links, you will be asked to write several well constructed pargraphs.
1. Use the VOICE of a young black child in the 1930s.
2. Use the IDEAS from the web sites you searched (These would be your supporting details).
3. Use a descriptive paragraph ORGANIZATION, begin with a thesis sentence for each paragraph and use supporting details from the web sites.
4. Use a variety of sentence lengths and types for SENTENCE FLUENCY.
5. Use the words and phrases from the web sites (the terminology) for WORD CHOICE.
6. Use correct grammar, punctuation and spelling for CONVENTIONS.
