Track Description
Introduction: You and your partner are the new currators of an outstanding art gallery that will highlight the art of children's literature. Your task will be to inaugurate a Children's Book Illustrator's Hall of Fame. Art from your favorite illustrators will be shown and your will be in charge of designing and sending invitations to the gala reception.
Your task is to:
1) Choose five illustrators that you think deserve to be in the Illustrator's Hall of Fame. You are given several links to illustrator sites so that you can research each artist and look at their work. If there is an additional artist you would like to nominate, search Amazon.com for the books they illustrated.
2) You will make a Power Point presentation with a slide on each of the illustrator's you chose. Each slide should include:
-The artist's name and picture
-A picture that the artist drew
-A list of the books they illustrated
-Why you think this artist should be in the Hall of Fame
*NOTE* All pictures or text taken from sites MUST be sited. Which site did you take it from and make sure the site says you can take it before you copy and paste. This is not an option, this is a requirement.
3) You will then design an invitation to the gala reception including the art style of one of the illustrator's you chose as the best of the best. (Example: Use Bryan Collier's collage style but make the invitation yourself).
4) Your parents will receive a letter in the mail explaining the assignment. For our elegant gala reception, we will be posting your paintings from our unit on painters around the classroom so be sure you tell the art teacher which one of your paintings you would like framed. A punch bowl and hors d'oeuvre table will be provided so sign up for which dessert you want to bring. Your invitations will also be displayed so your classmates can admire your work.
