 Track Description
From observing my 6th grade class, I found that most of them have difficulty refining Internet searches and presenting researched information in a multimedia format. They can't always recognize what is important in the researched information and organize it in a in a logical way. They often consider these steps as "hard" and try to find the easiest, quickest way to complete a project. TN Curriculum Framework Content for Computer Technology Standard 6 for Grades 6-8 states: The student will use technology as a tool to conduct and evaluate research and to communicate effectively information and ideas. Standard 5 states: The student will use a variety of technologies to improve classroom learning, increase productivity, and support creativity. Learning expectations from these standards include the following: The student will: *Use a variety of computer technologies to collaborate with peers and experts, present, access, analyze, interpret, synthesize, apply and communicate information in content areas. *Use the Internet as a tool for research. *Apply multimedia tools in personal productivity and learning throughout content areas. *Develop solutions or products for audiences inside and outside the classroom. This unit will provide different approaches to teaching research, organization, synthesizing, multimedia, and presentation skills.
