Track Description
Students were observed experiencing difficulty understanding fractions. This learning gap was identified from a post test from the Harcourt Assessment Book. The average class score was only 62%. This gap is to be addressed in the classroom according to the Tn. Curriculum Framework Content for Math Standards for Grades 3-5 Number
Sense and Number Theory. The mathematics curriculum must include problems which require students to recognize, represent, and model real numbers and operations verbally, physically, symbolically, and graphically. In addition, this unit addresses the following standard, Computer Technology: Literacy & Usage Grades 3-5 which states "the
students will use a variety of technologies to improve classroom learning, increase productivity and support creativity." Learning expectations for this standard requires students to "access information storage and retrieval capabilities of a computer. This unit provides strategies for students to learn and apply skill in mastering understanding fractions.
