Track Description
In evaluating My students' Terra Nova scores for 1999, I fould that at least 65 percent of my 6th graders had a hard time with reading comprehension and analyzing facts. The TN Curriculum Framework Content for Language Arts grades 6-9 is- #5 Improve comprehension by interpreting, analyzing, synthesizing and evaluating written text and #4 Use comprehensive sradegies to enhance understanding to make predictions, and to respond to literature. In order for my students to read at their appropriate level thay need much extra practice on hese skills of reading comprehension and analysing facts or information.
Learning expectations for these standards include the following: Teh student will-demonstrate an undrestanding of various vacabulary dealing with this time period and the ship itself by looking up the workds and discussing them orally - Answer comprehensive questions with 90 percent accuracy after reading a story in their literature book - Write a brief narritive on how it would have felt to survive the Titanic sinking - Create a fact sheet stating five facts and feelings about the Titanic using web sites - Students will list five people who were on the Titanic and briefly describe each using web sites - Students will comprehend the great measures experienced to inspect the titanic at its great depths using the web and the story in their book.
