 Track Description
The name of this track is Vocabulary, designed for grade 6 Language Arts. This track will benefit students and teachers by serving as a "hotlist" to which they can refer for research and informational purposes. In this Vocabulary unit, students will be immersed in vocabulary and correct usage. It will increase students' vocabulary and successful articulation, which is an essential communication skill. This unit directly correlates with the 6-8 English/Language Arts-Writing Content Standard, which states: the student will develop the structural and creative skills necessary to produce written language that can be read and interpreted by various audiences. Specific Items addressed from Profiler Survey: #3: Students think about their best skills and use them to complete a task. #4: Students are willing to try tasks that seem hard to do. #5: Students learn something as completely as they can. #6: Students find ways to use what they learn. #10: Students need to improve on spotting the important facts, concepts,and vocabulary when they are learning something new.
