This unit addresses the following Learning Expectations from Language Arts Grades 6-8 in the Tennessee Frameworks Curriculum Guide. 1) Continue to respond actively and imaginatively to literature; develop an understanding of and respect for multicultural and ethnic diversity in language. 2) Practice a variety of prewriting activities to generate, focus, and organize ideas. 3) Research information to prepare presentations or reports. 4) Recognize that language has sevaeral levels of usage determined by audience, purpose, and occasions, and 4) Demonstrate effective writing style by the use of vivid words, varied sentences, and appropriate transitions. This unit addresses Survey Item #13, "I connect what I learn in school to what I do outside of school." By understanding ideas and morals of fables in relation to daily living, students can apply these morals to their own lives.
