My special education class is very behind in English grammar skills. I wanted to use activities and lessons that are different from work sheets and text book assignments. This unit reinforces adjectives, nouns, verbs, and adverbs by having students practice these parts of speech in direct relationship to their writing. They will write a paragraph that describes who and what they are after creating lists of the above mentioned parts of speech. The other sites will use a variety of activities, such as songs and games to reinforce grammar skills. The students will develop the structural and creative skills necessary to produce written language that can be read and interpreted by various audiences according to grade cluster 3-5 English Language Arts Curriculum. The students will recognize and demonstrate appropriate use of standard English: usage, mechanics and sentence structure.
