The unit Macbeth by William Shakespeare was chosen because it allows students to read Macbeth and incorporates word recognition, comprehension, interpretation, analysis, evaluation, and appreciation for Shakespeare. The 12th grade reading content standard states that students will develop the reading skills necessary for word recognition, comprehension, interpretation, analysis, evaluation, and appreciation of the written text. I chose this unit because it allowed me to incorporate the areas of writing, reading, speaking and listening, and viewing and representing into meeting my teacher objectives for 12th grade.
