 Track Description
This learning unit gives the 3rd grade student opportunities to relate the math skill of repeated addition and skip counting to the math skill of multiplication. The Tennessee Curriculum Guide states that the 3rd grade student should be able to recall the basic multiplication facts and multiply by 1-and 2-digit numbers. The learning expectations for this unit are: 1. TLW choose missing numbers to complete multiplication facts. 2. TLW discuss the meaning of multiples. 3. TLW find the patterns and rules of multiplication for the 2's, 3's, and 6's multiplication facts. When the students can demonstrate an understanding of the relationship between repeated addition and multiplication, then higher level math skills can be introduced.
