Track Description
7th Grade Science Resource/Extended Learning Opportunity to be used in an investigation
of air quality of our school. There are many good resources with labs, activities, and worksheets to review air pollution and plants/photosynthesis
in the role of air purifiers. The idea is to have the students produce a lab report using the scientific method. They must create a checklist to see if the building is sick, then they select a solution to improve the air quality.
They will test the air, implement their cure, and test again, recording their results shown in the tests as well as in continuing surveys and absence
records. As I believe our building is sick, I think that this would be a good way to help students understand the importance of clean air as well as the role they can play in attaining it. As a GT extension, the end product will be the creation of a play to illustrate indoor air pollution causes and solutions.
