 Track Description
This track is for upper elementary through 6th grade students. The project is to address problems students have in analyzing research material in order to generate a written product. It also provides the student with organizational skills so he can set goals that help him develop an approach for a task that appears too hard. The students research an author using the given questions, use a project tracking sheet to plan how to organize the project, and then use a writing process site to organize ideas and write a report. The students practice reading skills necessary for word recognition, comprehension, interpretation, analysis, evaluation, and appreciation of the written text. The students set goals and proceed to organize data and apply the structural and creative skills necessary to produce a report that can be read and interpreted by their classroom audience.
