The stated learning gap says that fifth grade students have demonstrated a difficulty with activities dealing with words in context. This unit will provide students with various activities dealing with words in context and being able to use them correctly in sentences as well as conversation. They will be introduced to specialized vocabulary to aid in word context by using avaition themes. This will go along with the Curriculum Standard Framework which states: Students in grades 3-5 will be able to recognize and demonstrate proper use of reading vocabulary by utilizing sight words, phonetic and structural analysis, and context. These lessons will have computer intergrated activities that will give students more opportunity to use the internet as a learning tool as suggested by the Profiler Teacher "Pre-Survey".
