Students will learn how to measure by using standard and non-standard measuring tools. They will also estimate the approximate length of objects before measuring. Encouragement is given to students in the form of tasks that enable them to find ways to use what they have learned. This unit addresses the identified learning gap of using measurement tools and applying estimation strategies. It also addresses the third grade Math/3-5 Cluster Estimation Measurement and Computation. Our school improvement plan targeted a need for students to be given opportunities to demonstrate proficiency in basic academic skills. This unit will be utilized to fulfill these needs.
