 Track Description
The stated learning gap is context clues. This unit was chosen because it requires the students to determine word meanings from students' written and oral descriptions. The fifth grade LA 3-5 cluster in reading content standard states that the students will develop the reading skills necessary for word recognition, comprehension, interpretation, analysis, evaluation, and appreciation of the written text. This unit addresses the learning expectations to utilize sources of information including technological tools and to develop skills in making inferences. Students will use the internet to access activities to enhance their reading abilities using context clues.I chose this unit because it allowed my students to learn something that they could combine with other things that they know to create new ideas. It also provides opportunities for my students to think about their best skills and use them to complete a task.
