Track Description
Electronic e-mail is potentially the most powerful tool teachers can use in the K-12 classroom. Students need to write and create projects for real-world situations and audiences. E-mail allows you and your students to step "Out of your classroom" and communicate directly with other students and adults without actually leaving your room.
And YES, you can use e-mail as an instructional tool with only your teacher email account. Student e-mail accounts are great, but if you don't have them yet, don't let that stop you from utilizing this wonderful tool. Use your e-mail account. Connect your computer to the TV with a scan converter / presentation device and conduct the e-mail activity in a "whole class" setting. Students can compose letters, questions, etc. ahead of time and you send their work as attachments or let the class write the contents of the e-mail together, using Inspiration to plan, organize, and write the message.
The websites and information provided in this Track will show you how to use e-mail more effectively as an instructional tool in your classroom.
