Track Description
In this unit students read fables, determine the morals of the fables, and discuss real life examples of how the morals may or may not have helped them in their own lives. It addresses the grade level 3-5 Content Standards: the student will develop the reading skills necessary for word recognition, comprehension, interpretation, analysis, evaluation, and appreciation of the written text; and the student will express ideas clearly and effectively in a variety of oral contexts and apply active listening skills in the analysis and evaluation of spoken ideas. I chose this unit to use the Internet in my class to practice these skills and to practice the Profiler teacher Usage Survey items: the students will put themselves in their teammates' shoes during a discussion so they can understand their points better; be willing to try tasks that seem hard to do; think about their best skills and use them to complete a task; and understand how they can best demonstrate what they know about topics.
