This unit will encourage students to read and write. It gives them an alternative to standard book reports and allows them to use technology. The unit takes place over a six week period, at home and at school. Students learn what makes a book good and the characteristics of good book reviews while increasing the number of books students read. They must demonstrate understanding of the book and reading comprehension to create their book review. Book reviews will be published in a variety of ways, written on cards, displayed on boards, presented in PowerPoint slide shows, HyperStudio, etc. Finished projects will be displayed on the library shelves near the fiction books.
