Students in my 8th grade English class are having difficulty in their writing skills. Students will attempt to write a short paper without any research. Then, they will write a paper on the same topic after accessing online information. Effective writing is an important skill for my students to acquire as stated in our TN State Curriculum - The student will develop the structural and creative skills necessary to produce written language that can be read and interpreted by various audiences. Students will use the Internet in my class to research topics. A rubric which is included in this unit will be used as the evaluation tool.
