Track Description
This track will help students better understand the various art movements from the 1400s onward and how these movements and specific works relate to and compliment history.
Objectives
The students will be able to identify the eras of artistic change and expression.
The students will be able to comprehend the basic ideas behind each era.
The students will be able to contrast the ideas behind the movements when paintings are compared.
The students will be able to name an artist from each era.
The students will be able to describe what the painting may be about supported by their knowledge of the era.
*The students will be able to classify a series of paintings into the various eras they belong.
*The students will be able to identify more than one artist from each era.

I think that certainly many of the benchmarks in standard 1 critical thinking and inquiry go very well with analyzing art and integrating that knowledge with a history course. Also, standard 2, drawing conclusions and applying knowledge had many benchmarks that this lesson would address. The students who follow this tract will draw on their historical knowledge and think critically about the artist's creation. This will help prepare them for the higher levels and better understand historical events as well as the artistic movements.
