It is never to early to invite poetry into a child's life. By making it fun, and relating it to the child's world, poetry can be a lifelong journey. I have written a simple two week lesson unit using Jack Prelutsky's book "a Pizza the size of the Sun" as a text. This book invites children to laugh at poetry. The poems are fun and creative and spark the imagination of children. The lesson plans support some of the educational standards related to speech, writing, and communication.
