The lessons of this track will support the creative writing unit for forth graders in which the students will develop structural and grammatical skills needed to produce written language that can be read and interpreted by various audiences. This expectation when met will help to eliminate the learning gap now present in this fourth grade population. Only 62% of the previous year's fourth graders were able to pass the required standardized writing assessment. On site observations with this years class indicates that this year's student's were less prepared to take the test then last year's. We expect the presentation of this unit to help raise the writing standard now exhibited by this group of students.
