 Track Description
This track was created for third grade Language Arts students who have competence in the demonstration of research skills, drawing techniques, and presentation skills in process writing activities. Third grade students will: create an alphabet book about coins; rewrite a fairy tale; write a wacky tale; and work cooperatively with classmates to write a story. Students will use the Internet as stated in the Teacher Profiler pre-survey to answer questions, practice skills, and choose the parts of a topic that are most important to explain to others. This track addresses the TN Curriculum Framework Standard for Language Arts 3-5 in writing that states that student will develop the structural and creative skills necessary to produce written language that can be read and interpreted by various audiences. The learning expectations are as follows: The student will: write frequently for a variety of purposes such as narration, description, and personal, creative expression; continue to respond actively and imaginatively to literature; demonstrate effective writing style by the use of vivid words, varied sentences, and appropriate transitions; and use elements of the writing process as appropriate to the writing task.
