 Track Description
This track is designed to help my students understand the significant role Africian Americans play in our history. The Learning gap is in Third Grade Social Studies. My students have shown deficiencies in comprehending historical events and trends. The class is not able to interpret historical information and put them in the context of past, present, and future. Students will exhibit a knowledge of history identifying and describing major events, people, and trends. Students will address historical events and trends in order to interpret historical information and put it in the context of past, present, and future. Learning Expectations: the learner will distinguish between primary and secondary sources of data from which historical events are related; explore how people in the United States have adapted to change; evaluate how events in American history have influenced and been influenced by events in other parts of the world; know the contributions made by African-Americans to the development of Tennessee. I chose this unit because it allowed me to use the Internet in my class to answer questions or practice skills online as described in the Profiler teacher Usage Survey. In this track students will exhibit a knowledge of history identifying and describing major events, people, and trends, students will analyze a variety of primary source materials, students will address historical events and trends in order to interpret historical information and put it in the context of past, present, and future, and students will exhibit an understanding of the dynamic interaction between human events and the state, region, or country in which they occur.
