Track Description
This Track was created for a fifth grade class in order to assist them in learning the process of division with double digit divisors. It addresses the learning gap, division using two-digit divisors, as well as the TN State Frameworks Math 3-5: Number Sense and Number Theory. In order to develop Number Sense and an understanding of Number Theory, the mathematics curriculum must include problems which require students to recognize, represent, and model real numbers and operations verbally, physically, symbolically, and graphically. Learning expectations: 1. Build a strong understanding of division of whole numbers. 2. Understand the steps in the process of division with double digit divisors. 3. Successfully solve two-digit division problems. 4. Become familiar with the proper vocabulary dealing with the division process. These lessons require students to use division problems in many ways using peers, worksheets, games, and the internet. At the end of this unit students will be able to complete tasks successfully that they once found difficult.
