The stated learning gap is(recognizing poetry forms and appreciating poetry). The unit ("Valentine Cinquain Poems")was chosen because it (contains methods and activities which will acquaint students with a poetry form and by involving them in poetry writing, develop their appreciation and enjoyment of poetry). (The fourth grade Language Arts 3-5 cluster Reading states that the student will read and appreciate poetry and that the student will write poetry). I chose this unit because it allowed my students to use the Internet to search for and to share poetry with other teachers and students.
