As stated in the learning gap my 8th grade students comprehension levels are low making it difficult for them to interpret, analyze, evaluate, and appreciate the written text. In developing this unit "Anne Frank" I felt it would give my students the opportunity to improve their reading skills while participating in a variety of activities. This will allow them the experiences that will help them better meet the curriculum standard as stated: The student will develop the reading skills necessary for word recognition, comprehension, interpretation, analysis, evaluation, and appreciation of the written text. It will also let them learn something as completely as possible as indicated in the Profiler teacher pre-survey.
