This unit will address the learning gap of reading comprehension by encouraging students to read a wide range of books. It will be used with my fifth grade students while we are doing a novel study on "War With Grandpa." This unit will address the Tennessee Curriculum Framework Standard: The student will develop the reading skills necessary for word recognition, comprehension, interpretation, analysis, appreciation of the written text. It will address the Teacher Profiler presurvey item: Students will try more than one way to show what they have learned.
