This unit was chosen because the ideas suggested can be easily adapted to the development of vocabulary in the first book of the Magic Treehouse series. Along with the unit on using the dictionary to help develop vocabulary is a guide that can be used for the 1st book in the Magic Treehouse series. The new vocabulary used in this book can be developed by the games suggested on the other web sites. The 2nd grade language arts, K-2 cluster reading content standard states: "The student will develop the skills necessary for word recognition, comprehension, interpretation, analysis, evaluation, and apprecition of the written text." I chose this unit because the URL's related to this unit allow me to use the internet in my class to pratice skills online as described in the profiler teacher survey.
