Track Description
I will be using this unit in my 5th grade resource language class. The student
will develop the structural and creative skills necessary to produce written
language that can be read and interpreted by various audiences. Students
with disabilities have difficulty with written expression and connecting their
thoughts in order to write effectively. I selected this unit because this will help
them express their thoughts effectively and they will have the freedom to
express what they view as relevant. To be creative in any way you must be
allowed and encouraged to think about things in different ways and that is
what this unit helps student with. The pre-survey showed me that my
students don't often connect how their writing abilities may be used in
work or hobbies. My students will learn about careers during this unit that
are related to the field of creative writing. I believe that my students will
become more aware of the importance of their writing abilities. I chose
this unit because it will help my students use these skills in their daily lives.
The students will use their creativity to write in a variety of tasks to a
variety of audiences.
