 Track Description
The stated learning gap is the knowledge of the phonetic sounds or a sight vocabulary that is essential to beginning reading or that is adequate for them to become independent readers. The unit "Sight Words" was chosen because it generalizes practice for memorizing the sight vocabulary. Student will learn various high frequency sight words by playing Steal the Words card game. The TN State Frameworks Language/Arts Reading K-2 states: that the student will develop the reading skills necessary for word recognition, comprehension, interpretation, analysis, evaluation, and appreciation of the written text. I chose this unit because it increases the students vocabulary to be used in other subjects and gives them online experience as described in the Profiler teacher "Usage Survey".
