The lessons will include introducing new vocabulary and reading to improve vocabulary.The students will retrieve information about the novel Holes. This unit addresses the Tennessee Curriculum Standard which states:The student will develop the reading skills necessary for word recognition, comprehension, interpretation, analysis, evaluation, and appreciation of the written text. After reading a short passage, students have difficulty recalling details. This book was chosen because it is system-required reading for the sixth grade in literature. The student will develop the reading skills necessary for word recognition, comprehension, interpretation, analysis, evaluation, and appreciation of the written text. Hopefully, the students will have a deeper understanding and comprehension of what they are reading. Students' exposure to cultural differences will expand their understanding and empathy for others.
