Track Description
Based on Terra Nova scores, teacher made tests, and class discussion 7th grade students scored below 80% and were not able to read maps. Standard 1 of the Tennessee Curriculum Framework for geography states that students should be able to use maps, globes and other geographical representation, tools, and technologies to acquire, process and report information from a spatial perspective. Students will demonstrate a basic knowledge of maps by creating them using the Internet as a geographical research tool. Learning expectations: Students are expected to learn basic maps skills, including labeling and identifying specified maps, creating a map to their homes, using correct geographical terminology, and accurately using standard symbols for key/legend.
