Track Description
The learning gap is expressing oneself through creative writing. The 3-5 language arts content curriculum standard states: The student will develop the structural and creative skills necessary to produce written language that can be read and interpreted by various audiences. The unit, "Class Books" to help students use the computer to show what they have learned about writing and to try something that seems difficult to do, both needs identified in my teacher profiler pre-survey. Students will model their class book after books by Laura Numeroff, "If you Give a Pig a Pancake", "If you Give a Moose a Muffin", and/or If you Give a Mouse a Cookie." Learning Expectations include:
Write frequently for a variety of purposes such as narration, description, and personal, creative expression;
Continue to respond actively and imaginatively to literature.
. Demonstrate effective writing style by the use of vivid words, varied sentences, and appropriate transitions;
Practice a variety of prewriting activities to generate and organize ideas:
