Track Description
This unit Fairy Tale Journey contains a variety of creative writing prompts to foster the creative writing process. The fourth grade 3-5 English/Language Arts content standard states that students will develop the structural and creative skills necessary to produce written language that can be read and interpreted by various audiences. The objectives for this unit are: 1. The students will assume the role of the main character in a fairy tale and rewrite the ending. 2. The students will use comics to foster creative writing and vocabulary skills. 3. The students will use their imagination and make a list of possibilities, then choose one idea and write a story. 4. The students will brainstorm and make a list of wishes for someone else, then choose 1 wish and write 2 paragraphs about that wish. 5. The students will be exposed to similes and how they can be used in writing.
